The Garrison Wickersley is an independent restaurant located in Wickersley, Rotherham, serving high-quality food built around locally sourced ingredients and a carefully curated drinks offering.

The objective of the branding was to reflect the elevated dining experience and attract a slightly more upmarket clientele, while still feeling welcoming and refined. The visual direction needed to communicate quality, confidence, and longevity.

The brand positioning focused on:

  • A premium yet approachable restaurant identity

  • A timeless visual tone that reflects high-quality food

  • A strong, recognisable emblem suitable for signage

  • Restraint in design to avoid looking overly decorative or cheap

A Classic Monogram Identity

To create a distinctive centrepiece for the brand, a monogram built around the letter “G” was developed as the flagship emblem. The mark draws on classic hospitality branding, using strong, confident letterforms that feel established and refined.

The identity was intentionally kept minimal. Rather than relying on complex graphics or heavy ornamentation, the monogram acts as the central anchor of the brand. This approach allows the mark to work seamlessly across signage, menus, and printed materials while maintaining a consistent, recognisable presence.

The visual identity was built around a deep navy blue paired with subtle gold accents, creating a tone that feels premium and understated.

Typography and layout were kept minimal and structured, ensuring the brand supports the restaurant’s high-quality food and atmosphere rather than competing with it.

A Cohesive Brand Across Touchpoints

The identity system was applied across multiple physical and printed touchpoints throughout the restaurant.

This included:

  • Outdoor restaurant signage

  • Menu design
